Enjoying Holiday Lights by Bike

This holiday season we’ve enjoyed a couple of fantastic bicycle rides thorugh Seattle on cold, clear nights. The lights of the season are a highlight, as are destinations like Pike Place Market and Golden Gardens Park.

Here are some images — and even a couple of short videos — from our excursions.

Merry Christmas!

Bikes wrapped in lights

Our bikes were wrapped in twinkly or rope lights, ready for a nighttime ride to check out the holiday lighting and Christmas Ships.

Market with Ferry

We enjoyed a stunning sunset at the Pike Place Market, with a ferry crossing Elliott Bay.

Marketfront at Pike Place Market

Great views from the new “Marketfront” plaza at Pike Place Market, including the big ferris wheel and Elliott Bay. Notice the Christmas Ship festooned with lights to the right of the wheel.

Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market is magical at any time of year, but especially at the holidays.

Blue Trees

This home in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood won our home decorating award with two big leaf maples wrapped in blue LEDs. Thank you homeowner!

Shilshole Marina lights

With a Christmas Ship blazing at its center, Shilshole Marina in Northwest Seattle is in the holiday mood, with many boats displaying colorful lights.
